Tattoo Removal Techniques

A tattoo is an adornment on one’s skin. It can be temporary or permanent. The one’s that are permanent are difficult to remove from skin. However, the dermatologic surgeons in the recent years have developed effective and safe tattoo removal techniques to remove the unwanted tattoo designs from the skin successfully.

The dermatologic surgeon removes the tattoo designs on an outpatient basis by using local anesthesia. Given below are the most common tattoo removal techniques.

  • Laser surgery   A dermatologic surgeon can remove the permanent marking from the skin by treating pigment colors with laser beam of high intensity. Laser surgery has become very popular in the recent times because it offers no bloodshed. It is a highly effective treatment with nominal side effects. The kind of laser that is used depends upon the color of the pigment.
  •  Dermabrasion   In this process, the surgeon uses a solution to the small portion of the tattoo that you want to remove from your skin. This solution is used to freeze that tattooed portion. However, the permanent marking is then sanded with an abrasive tool and that causes the skin to peel off.
  • Excision  The dermatologic surgeon makes use of a scalpel to remove the tattoo from the skin. The area is then stitched after tattoo removal.
