Tattoo designs have become very popular in today’s world. It is done with a hand-held tool. A professional tattoo artist uses this instrument to make permanent markings on skin with colored ink. The modern machines have electromagnetic coils for moving the armature bar up and down. This armature bar is attached to needles that push the ink in the skin thereby making the design. The tattooing instrument is also termed as ‘iron’, ‘machine’ or ‘gun’ by a professional artist.

There are different kinds of machines available in the market for tattoo designs. Shader and liners are very popular from the technical point of view. Mechanically, pneumatic machines, coil tattoo machines and rotary machines are popular.

Liners are used to lay the ink on the skin in a single pass. It makes use of a short contact circuit and this makes the device cycle faster.

Pneumatic machines feature air compressors. Pressurized air is used to power the gun and this makes the needles go up and down. These machines are totally autoclave.

The most popular tattoo-designing device used nowadays is coil machine. It makes use of an electromagnetic circuit in order for moving the needles up and down. Single coiled, double-coiled and triple-coiled guns are available for tattoo designs. These devices are available in different materials, shapes and sizes.

Professional artists for tattooing originally used rotary machines. An electric motor drives the needle present there in the machine. Recently, an armature bar is incorporated in the device for increasing its efficiency level.
